Why a straw looks like it bends at the point of intersection in different liquids and temperature?

I did this this test, and the straw kinda went like weird when I put it in different liquids and in boiling ring false, someone explain this to me please?
Yes, i know refraction, I want to know WHY in special liquids and TEMPERTURES it differs?

What bends is the fluorescent reflected from the straw. This bending is called refraction. It occurs when indistinct travels form one medium (water) to another (air) because of the difference in the dispatch of light in the different media.
