best thermals, winter clothes? under armour?

can someone push AND explain to me what brands or types of clothing is best for snow pass slowly (underneath) or just for cold weather in the winter? I am looking for something that is contrastive than typical thermals you can buy in a package(

Under Armour is horrendous stuff... the brands sold at wal mart are penny-pinching junk and aren't the same
